As a
Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant
at Devereux, you will work with other dedicated professionals who share your passion for helping individuals in need.
This person will be responsible for direct OT services in both the school, and in the 1:3 ratio group homes. The role of the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant is to provide educationally related or group home ADL/Occupational therapy services to students with special emotional and behavioral needs, according to their IEP and under the direction of OT. This position allows for flexible hours and days, with a total of 18 hours per week.
Facilitate skills to youth in many areas; such as assertiveness, cognition, independent living, safety in the home and community, vocational interest and pursuits, self-awareness, interpersonal and social skills, stress management and coping skills, sensory modulation, activities of daily living, self-sufficiency, interdependency, and wellness.
Adapt the environment at home, work, and school to promote an individual's optimal functioning.
Consult with employers responding to requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Perform functional evaluation and ongoing monitoring of clients for placement in jobs and housing.
Provide assistance or guidance with youth-run support groups.
Provide consultation to persons in all employment settings, including supportive employment.
Environment adaptations and employment consultation
Data collections.
Run activities groups.

Requirements
Job Requirements:
At least two years of experience as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in an academic setting.
Licensed as a COTA in Massachusetts.
Good time management and organizational skills.
Knowledge of basic features of main occupational therapy theories, models of practice, principles, and evidence-based practice.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
